The newest arrival in the Superbike family of Ducati, displayed at the 2010 Intermot Cologne Show in Germany, is the new 2011 Ducati 1198SP, which replaces the previous 1198S version. It is equipped with Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Quick Shifter (DQS), Ducati Data Analyzer (DDA), Ohlins TTX rear suspension, slipper clutch and aluminum fuel tank in addition to the usual Ohlins front suspension, forged Marchesini wheels and lightweight carbon fibre components. The base model Ducati 1198 has also been upgraded for 2011 with DTC, DDA, DQS fitted to as standard equipments on all versions.

Much of the weight accumulation is from the new ammunition catchbasin which holds 4.75 gallons of fuel, 0.66 gallons added than the accepted 1198S. Further weight accumulation were fabricated with new seven-spoke Marchesini artificial and machined auto and a carbon cilia advanced fender.
